Active in Australian radio and organize productions from childhood, Sydney natal Michael Pate made his first peel in 1949 on his refuge toss. Pate then moved to Hollywood, where he settled into bent or obstreperous roles. He is best remembered by reason of his portrayal of Indian chief Vittoro in John Wayne's Hondo (1953), a voice he recreated for the 1966 weekly TV modification of Hondo, which top-billed Ralph Taeger.
