Trained at Hong Kong's Chiu Chiu academy and the Peking Opera, John Lone continued his acting and musical studies at the Pasadena branch of the American Academy of Histrionic Arts. The long-legged, brooding Lone won an Obie grant instead of his exhibition in the New York stage production FOB, which he also choreographed. Except seeing that a few old on-accomplish parts the Chinese cook in Regent Kong (1976), Lone has strived to keep away from played stereotypical Asians.
