Gained recognition in 1992 when, during the race riots in Los Angeles, California, known as the "Rodney King riots", he rescued a Japanese-American motorist who had been pulled out of his crate and was being beaten next to a black mob. Williams, himself raven, was also struck by different members of the great unwashed but was not seriously injured. The motorist was semi-conscious and bleeding heavily when Williams rescued him, and a fervency sombre driver picked up the injured handcuff from Williams and drove him to a hospital, where emergency surgery saved his vital spark.
