Gil Bellows worked steadily in film throughout the mid-'90s in the vanguard he achieved TV fame on the whimsical Fox comedy Accessory McBeal. Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Bellows sinistral Canada to study acting at the American Academy of Spectacular Arts in Southern California. He then headed East, appearing in New York theater as well as on TV's Law & Order.

As Ally/Calista Flockhart's ex-attachment-turned-law fellow-worker, Bellows' Billy was a bastion of relevant normalcy (at least until the third ) centre of the shaft populating the series' fictional Boston law inelastic and stoking Ally's neuroses.
