After Exactly Make II his ultra-as the crow flies-wing bureaucratic views fuelled his 'explosive' paranoia and he bought a quality in Oregon which he turned into a well-stocked compound in case the Russians attacked. Many of his old Hollywood friends, including 'Clark Gable' (qv), visited him there (some came to trace and fish) but the quality was later sold.
