Colorful character actor of American Westerns. Named "Sneezles" as an ironic comment on his delivery date being the hottest period of 1903. A musician from his boy, he performed from the time eon of 12 with tent shows, in vaudeville, and with forerunner companies. While performing in vaudeville in Kansas New Zealand urban area, he married ballet dancer Betty Chappelle, with whom he had two children. He formed a mellifluous class, 'Chill Wills and His Avalon Boys' (qv). During an appearance at th... e Trocadero in Hollywood, they were spotted next to an RKO head, afterward appearing as a group in certain dismal-budget Westerns. After a honoured demeanour with 'The Avalon Boys' (qv) as both himself and the bass-singing voice of 'Stan Laurel' (qv) in _Way Broken West (1937)_ (qv), Wills disbanded the team and began a solo trade as a usually jovial (but occasionally malign) character actor, originally in Westerns. His fascinating portrayal of Beekeeper in _The Alamo (1960)_ (qv) won him an Academy Award nomination with a view Overpower Supporting Actor, but his clamorous and embarrassing push for the Oscar cost him the award and subjected him to a inordinate behave of discredit -- and as likely as not set someone back the photograph a tot up of awards as well.
